Electrical Technology focuses on the understanding and application the principles of
electrical engineering. The purpose of electrical technology lab is to introduce students
with implementation of practical concepts that are taught in theory. The electrical
technology lab is equipped with Norton Theorem apparatus, Ohm’s law kit, series and
parallel resistance kit, KVL and KCL apparatus etc. Students are encouraged to use their
creativity and problem solving skills to explore and think about the unique problems in the
world of electrical & electronics engineering through experimenting in their electrical lab.
The Electrical Mechanical Energy Conversion Laboratory in Electronics & Communication Engineering Department is intended specifically to meet the needs of modern courses and its fundamentals in electrical machines . The EMEC Lab provides the means to study the different areas, including the operation, analysis and performance of Electro-technology, Single Phase Transformers, Three Phase Rotating Machines like DC Machines, Single & Three Phase induction machines.
As the Basic Electronics Lab forms the core subject of Electronics & Communication Branch. In this lab the students perform experiments of basic components of electronics i.e. diode ,transistors, IGBT, FET, MOSFETs, SCR and their related circuits. The electronics laboratory is equipped with Operational amplifiers, function generator, RLC resonant circuits, digital analog training system, AM basic experiment kit, FM basic experiment kit, PM basic experiment kit in order to provide in-depth knowledge in a specific area.
In today’s world of automation Control System Engineering forms a very important subject in the Electronics & Communication Engineering field where the students are exposed to contemporary control system equipment in a realistic manner, in order to connect theoretical material taught in lecture courses with the realities of physical hardware and simulation through ‘higher-level’ technical computing language. In this lab the students get hands on how a control system is used for controlling errors.
The lab has kits like Speed torque characteristics AC servo motor, Speed torque characteristics of AC and DC servo motor, Synchro-transmitter and receiver trainer, Magnetic Amplifier, PID controller kit, and compensation network study kit etc. The students also learn about the stability of the control system through MATLAB programming.
The Signal Processing Lab helps in understanding the transmission and processing of information and our vehicle for that information will be the signal. Along the way students study how signals carry information, how they arise in circuits and systems, how to characterize them, and how they interact with the components that make up information systems. Finally the students get a chance to do what engineers do: to put it all together in construction and analysis of a communication the design system. The Signal Processing Lab is equipped with 30 computers and signal processing software like MATLAB.
This laboratory is equipped with all the modern circuit theory lab equipments and their manuals. Experimental tools on different network parameters like Z, Y, T, H parameters. Moreover this lab also have apparatus for different types of filters such as high Pass Low pass band pas band stop and many other on resonance conditions.
Microprocessor Laboratory is equipped with 8085, 8086 microprocessors and various interfacing cards and various interfacing devices. It is introductory microprocessor lab course at undergraduate level in engineering. Microprocessor technology is an exciting challenging and growing field, to meet the challenge of this growing technology, we will have to be conversant with the programmable aspect of microprocessor.
In this Lab the student understand the operation of basic laboratory instrumentation such as multimeter ,voltmeter, Ammeter, Energy meter, frequency counter and further study about the methods for measuring the various parameter such as voltage, current, power etc by working on the kits available in the lab.
This lab has ‘Silvaco’ software to study VLSI designing and their experiments this lab is used by M. Tech. students. This lab is equipped with updated software with proper lock codes for multiple users. Students in this lab perform various experiments of circuit designing using MOS technology. This lab is also used by M. Tech. students for various researches and thesis works. This Lab is equipped with 25 computers installed with various software like MATLAB, SILVACO, XILINKS, C, C++, KEIL, VHDL etc.
The Communication laboratory allows students of Electronics & Communication Engineering to perform experiments that demonstrate the theory of signals and communication systems. Communication lab introduces students to some of the electronic blocks that make up communication systems and familiarizes them with proper laboratory procedure, including precise record-keeping, logical troubleshooting, safety, and learning about the basic principles of communication, RF -communication and to verify different modulation and demodulation techniques.
The communication lab is equipped with Amplitude shift keying kit, Phase shift keying kit, Frequency shift keying kit, Frequency division multiplexing, Time division Multiplexing, characteristics kit, 4/8 bit Digital to Analog converter and , 4/8 bit Analog to digital converter kit etc.
This lab elaborates transistor switching circuits to include CMOS logic gates, latches, and flip-flops. We will perform shift-register and counter circuits using flip-flops. The two logic states are designated “0” (low) and “1” (high) and defined electronically by fixed voltage levels. The low-state is usually the reference or ground in the circuit, and the high-state is some positive voltage such as +5 V. A logic “gate” takes one or more logic-level inputs and produces a single logic-level output. The output is also a logic level, so the output of one logic gate can connect to the input of one or more other logic gates.
This Lab is intended for use in an introductory microprocessor or embedded controller course and is appropriate for two and four year Electronics & Communication Engineering curriculums. It utilizes the C programming language and assembly level programming for 8051 and PIC microcontroller. The lab contains sufficient experiments for a typical 15 week course using a two to three hour practical period. Some exercises may require more than one period (in particular, the arbitrary waveform generator). There are several choices for hardware, most of which are quite inexpensive and open source. Although this manual focuses on the Uno board, other boards may be used with some modifications to the lab text. Interface components are fairly common such as LEDs and seven segment displays, switches, capacitors, diodes, low power resistors and switching transistors. Another item of interest is a small DC hobby motor.
In these lab students has to develop assembly language programs for various experiments and purposes on the kits. Also one can develop the program in high level language like ‘C’ and embed the program in the Microcontroller Chip using the proper communicator IC – Burner.
In this lab, students carry out experiments in circuits and electronics featuring diode and transistor circuits, amplifiers, op-amps , wave generators and digital electronics. Equipments include oscilloscopes ,digital multimeters , function generators, power supplies and frequency counters.Furthermore , components are available to build circuits ranging from a simple diode rectifier to complete microprocessor based systems.
This lab is equipped with the communication link designing equipments using satellite transponder and used to communicate various signals (Audio, Video, Data etc.) using satellite link. This lab enables students to learn about the satellite link design and communication wirelessly using different communication modes and frequency combinations. Students understand DSSS wireless link and Disc antennas and their parameters.
This lab makes easy to innovate new researches. Before implementing the data on hard projects, it is simulated & verified in this lab. This lab is fully equipped with required software’s & tools like Xilinx and VHDL with favorable environment. The course covers digital design topics such as digital logic, sequential building blocks, finite-state machines, FPGAs, timing and synchronization.
This lab is equipped with all equipments of PCB design and development equipments which enables students to design a circuit in software and then take a print of it on the general copper plate on epoxy layer. Then students can develop the required circuit design on the epoxy plate using various methods & machines and chemical procedures. Then student can have holes for inserting component at desired locations.
